Infield Parking Media Upload Feature
The new media upload function on Infield Parking will feature a number of enhancements over the current system. In the first place, it allows for the upload of photos, video and audio. The current site only allows for the upload of photos. Once uploaded, the files can be added to posts in the main forums. So, you won’t need to link to files stored at a third party site like Photo Bucket.
From the desktop, there is also a bulk upload that allows you to select multiple files at once to upload. During the upload process, you can add titles, descriptions or tags to each file or the whole set. This should prove to be a valuable time saver for managing your media.
Once uploaded, you can create a widget player of your files and share them with friends and post them on other websites or blogs.
You can also follow your other Infield Parking friends. Whether it is a driver or another user, you can receive an alert each time he/she uploads a new image, video or audio clip. This makes it very easy to follow your friends activities and stay up on all the current postings. You will also be able to comment on your friends media and vice versa.
The feature that I am most excited about is a new mobile media upload. You will be able to upload images or video from your phone directly to your own media gallery. Catch a great shot at the races or anywhere else, simply email it from your phone to your media gallery and the image is uploaded automatically. You can add a custom title by putting it in the subject line of the email.
Pretty sweet!
Let me know what you think.

So do I understand this correctly? We are gonna have IN HOUSE media hosting for members and we won’t have to use PB anymore? Will these uploads work in our COMMENTS sections also?

Very nice set-up Mike.
Looks like there is going to be a lot more versatility on the new site.
Thanks for creating a better environment for everyone.

Any word on what year all these great things will happen?

Wow, sorry if someone was upset enough to remove my post. I was just asking for when this will be up?
I feel like we are being strung along. It has been 2 years now we were told there are changes coming. Now we have been told before the 2009 season, 12 days away.
As a member, I would like to know.
Again sorry if someone got all worked up. But you have to understand my view on this.
Thanks,
Lee
P.S. feel free to contact me through my email address I provide.

@gfunkerror nothing was deleted on purpose. This morning there were two posts that said virtually the same thing with two different time stamps. I approved one and deleted the other. Looks like wordpress knocked both out. Sorry about that.
As I said in previous posts we will announce a date as soon as we can. We are busting our *** to get things wrapped up as quick as possible. Some things are out of our control. Look for more posts this week and next.

Mike,
Thanks for the replies. I am sorry. I did not see the original post go through.
As we say in Philly.
“My bad yo.”
I am very excited.

@gfunkerror,
IP is a free site. Why does everyone have to complain about something that is free?
With all that is going on in this country, I believe there are better things to complain about.
I sure hope people don’t cry this much when the new site is unveiled.
Great masterpieces take time, and I’m willing to wait for a better site than the current IP is now.
Rome was not built in a day.
When this post is posted, it will prove that Mike posts everything that is written.

@ Dale Jr. is the bestest ever.. Well, I don’t publish everything. Off topic stuff, I usually reply to directly or forward to the people who can.
Also, to everyone, let’s not go negative towards people. The blog is about the development of the new site. The first two years of IP have been filled with growing pains and people that have stuck with IP have endured a lot. I understand the frustration and just want to channel it in a positive way to get it all behind us. I am the Dr. Phil of web development

Mike-
One thing I haven’t heard mentioned yet is blogs.
I could personally care less about a blog, but I know a lot of people have wanted them. Will they be a part of the new platform ?
February 5th, 2009 at 03:16
@Lefty Blogs you say? Their just a fad, never catch on….
Without stealing any thunder from my next “blog post”, there will be blogs as part of the user profile. I am hoping to get that written up in the next day or so.
